Growing up, I would often care for my four younger siblings. In high school I planned and taught my own preschool class of 7 students. Since that time, I have been a nanny for several different families, watching all different ages (the youngest being 3 months). One of the most fun jobs I had was watching infant twins 5 days a week until they were old enough to go to school.

I do what I can to play with them and keep them entertained but also make sure to uphold the rules that were given to me by the parents. I have worked well into the night before, so that is never an issue.What is your personal philosophy for childcare?My personal philosophy for childcare is to connect with the child. I believe that a lot of babysitters just find that they can make easy money out of this, but I prefer to have fun with the kids that I babysit, so that it makes it a good experience for them. I want babysitting to always be an option for the parents because being a parent is exhausting. If the kids don't have a good time with the babysitter, then they likely won't want the parents to leave them with one again. My goal is to make sure everyone is happy and gets to do what they want or get a break that they deserve.

I have worked several years as a summer camp counselor for K-5 students as well. I have experience working with children with special needs such as autism and ADHD. I love working to get to know each individual child and understanding the individual needs and unique interests of each of them. I'm able to assist with homework, as I have experience as a student assistant in elementary-level classrooms. I am also equipped to handle emergency situations, and I am certified in CPR/First Aid by the Red Cross. I love keeping kids engaged in different activities that will offer a fun environment!

I have also built relationships with the families I babysit for and the longest recurring family I have worked with has been 3 years. I was also a church camp counselor for 6 summers where I was in charge of kids ranging from 4 to 10 years old, many of those kids having dietary restrictions and allergies. That experience taught me patience, responsibility, and how important it is for parents to feel safe leaving their child with someone they trust. I began babysitting in 2024 for a small family from my church. She has worked as a special education teacher my whole life, so I have had plenty of experience working with children who have special needs. Currently, being a student at Florida State has furthered my love for helping nurture children further. I have just finished ASL at Florida State, and hope to continue my knowledge on the language further.
