Are you joyful? Experienced? Reliable?

We are seeking sitters with “servants’ hearts” - those who care for our families like their own! Parents rely on us and kids look up to us, so it’s a responsibility we take to heart! The process to join Seminole Sitters involves thorough background checks and other screenings, so please be patient.

Required Qualifications:

  1. 4+ years consistent childcare experience and training, outside family/friends (e.g. babysitter, camp counselor, mother's helper, substitute teacher, volunteer in church nursery or VBS, etc.);

  2. Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 1 month);

  3. Computer/internet access and basic tech skills (email, scheduling apps, Zoom, etc.);

  4. Willingness to work on a contract basis; and

  5. Punctual, reliable, trustworthy, and compassionate

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent;

    • Exception: We will accept a limited number of Junior Sitters. These are high school students with a driver’s license and transportation, babysitting experience, and willingness to complete CPR/First Aid and a certified babysitting course through Nurse Sharena or the American Red Cross

  2. Pursuing or holding a degree in a child-related field; and

  3. Valid driver’s license and your own reliable transportation with proper insurance.

    • Tallahassee is a town that has grown “outward” rather than “upward” of the years (neighborhoods have typically been built further from downtown areas rather than creating taller residential buildings near downtown areas). This wide spread means that many of our families live 30-40 minutes away from university campuses, often in places not easily accessible by public transportation.

    • In Spring, we offer a limited contract to serve clients in downtown Tallahassee. As long as you can reliably make it downtown to work, having a driver’s license or your own transportation is not required during those 2-3 months.

Typical Scheduling Needs in Tallahassee:

  • Weekdays, Year-Round: Prefer availability at least 2 weekdays/week (7:00 am - 6:00 pm)

  • Seasonal Needs:

    • Fall: Sitters for FSU home football games (extra pay)

    • Spring: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays (9:00 am - 5:00 pm) for group childcare

    • Kids’ School Year (Aug-May): willingness to drive children after school (2:30 pm - 6:30 pm)

    • Holidays/Breaks: Babysitting needed during spring, summer, and winter breaks

While waiting for a reply, please review your availability over the next few months. We’re open every day except Sundays and would like to know your availability for FSU home football games, summer/holiday breaks, and upcoming semesters.

Thank you!

Examples of Past Recurring Jobs

These are some regular jobs we have had available with Tallahassee families in the past!
We’ve not included examples of the many one-time and occasional jobs we have available week-to-week.

  1. IU family: Sitter’s choice of Friday mornings or afternoons for 2-3 hours. "It would be a time to do crafts, watch a movie, go to the library, or go to Target or other simple shopping trips." Parents will cover all costs.

  2. Local church: Wednesdays 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, typically 4 young kids (2 infants, 2 toddlers) - sitter welcome to arrive at 5:30 pm to enjoy a free dinner

  3. AC family: Mon/Tue/Wed 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm caring for 5.5yo girl and 10mo boy. Sitter should have prior infant experience and ideally will be able to meet the kids and babysit for a few date nights beforehand.

  4. MI family: Mon/Wed 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (two sitters can share schedule)

  5. MS family: Likely Tue/Thu, but some flexibility. May be one full 8-hour day and two half-days, or two 8-hour days. Caring for 15mo girl and likely joined by her almost-2yo friend! Family is happy to meet the sitter ahead of time, and has some ability to schedule their work around your class schedule.
