Ms. Katie B.

I can work with some cats and dogs, as long as I have enough notice to take allergy medicine.

Birthday: August 19th

Hometown: Green Cove Springs, FL

Other languages: I took three years of ASL (American Sign Language) in high school!

Favorite Crayola color: Sky Blue

Background: I have spent most of my time working with children in some sort of capacity since 2015! I have worked in church settings (both nursery and Vacation Bible School), in a dance studio teaching elementary school children, as well as privately in homes as a babysitter. I love kids and have decided to continue my schooling in Human Development & Family Sciences, hoping to become a pediatric developmental therapist. I have worked one-on-one with multiple children with developmental delays and enjoy getting to know individual personalities of children so I can give them the best childcare experience!

She’s cared for children as young as: 5 months old

Future plans: I hope to go to graduate school to further pursue developmental therapy & work with children in that capacity! I would also love to be able to spend some time visiting other countries and learning about different cultures around the world before having a family of my own.

When she's not babysitting: I love to spend time with the Christian community I have found here in Tallahassee! I am on the worship team of my local campus ministry, so I will likely be singing and dancing around with your child! I also really enjoy hosting dinner parties and move/game nights with friends!

Defining Quote: "There's a great big beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day!" - Walt Disney

Katie has an innate ability to understand kids and brings joy to those around her. She makes each child she’s working with feel secure and cared for. Children naturally gravitate toward her because she pays close attention to what they are saying and engages with them on their level. I’ve seen Katie work with special needs children where communication was difficult, but Katie showed perseverance and devoted time and effort to help the kids feel involved. Katie has a big heart, she is a hard worker, she has compassion, and she has wisdom to fulfill this job.

My daughter is 6 and Katie has known her for her entire life. Katie also babysat my daughter with her mom when my daughter was an infant. I’ve seen Katie work with older kids at the yearly VBS church camp. The kids just love her. Katie is an absolute gem. She has strong morals, a kind soul, and is the kind of person I hope my daughter will grow up to be. My daughter thinks the world of her, as do I. She is gentle, yet firm. Loving, yet knows realistic boundaries. I have never questioned her competence when she is with my child. I KNOW she is taken care of and loved. Katie’s love for children shines through her actions, while her kindness is felt immediately upon meeting her.
