Ms. Ruby

Birthday: October 11th

Hometown: Venice, FL

Favorite Crayola color: Cotton Candy!

Background: I am a student at Florida State University majoring in Pre-Nursing with a minor in Child Development. I have been working with children through babysitting, camp counseling, volunteering, and teaching since 2016. I’ve cared for kids of all ages, from 10 months-12 years, and I love creating fun, safe, and nurturing environments where children can thrive. I’ve worked as a camp counselor at the YMCA, where I supervised groups of children ages 4–12 and led daily activities that supported social, emotional, and physical development. I grew up with a brother with autism and anger issues and have experience dealing with children who need extra help. I’ve also volunteered in church nurseries, taught ballet to preschoolers, and even traveled abroad to support preschool children in Peru.

On her own, she’s cared for children as young as: 10 months old

Future plans: In the next 5-10 years, I plan on going to nursing school at Florida State University. I plan on pursuing a career in the field of pediatric nursing and hopefully travel nursing for a few years. I also dream of starting a family and living by the beach in the future!

When she’s not babysitting: My favorite thing to do is anything with my friends or family. I love the beach, traveling, shopping, and baking!!

Defining quote: "Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow." — Helen Keller

Ruby is great with kids. She is patient and kind, used our character core values and instilled them in campers. Helped them make friends and made them feel a sense of belonging. The kids all wanted Ruby as their counselor.

Ruby is a young lady full of joy and compassion especially serving in our church with the kids. She is a leader and is able to take the lead with the flow of our room. She is able to take direction well and conduct lessons for the little ones. She pours her heart into the kids with her love and affection. Ruby is a great candidate, as she is vigilant, careful and conscious around children and has a big heart for them!
