Ms. Elizabeth

Birthday: October 10th

Hometown: Boca Raton, FL

Favorite Crayola color: Robin’s Egg Blue

Background: I first started babysitting when I was 13 years old when my twin siblings were born. Another little brother was born a year later! Whenever I am home, I still love to watch them and take them on adventures. My first official job working with kids was when I was a freshman in high school as a counselor in training at my summer camp, Lion Country Safari Day Camp. I grew up going to this camp as a kid and was so excited to volunteer there. I was there every summer throughout high school working with the kids. I then became a summer camp counselor at the YMCA for two years working with kids 5 - 13. Later, in Tallahassee, I was a camp counselor at Camp Flastacowo for one summer working with kids ages 8 - 17. In Omaha, Nebraska, I taught children’s theatre for ages 3 - 17 and co-directed Alice in Wonderland Kids. I am currently studying Theatre Performance at Florida State University and have always had a passion for working with children and theatre. Through this experience I was able to help kids find their passions within the arts and make some great memories.

I have received training on how to support children and teens with ASD from the FSU Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD).

She’s cared for children as young as: 3 months old

Future plans: My future plans are to graduate from FSU with a BA in Theatre and a minor in Hospitality Management. I’d like to pursue a career in theatre performance along with children’s theatre.

When she's not babysitting: I love spending time with the people that I love, like my family and friends. I am a big outdoors person so I also enjoy anything outside from on the water to in the woods. Being in theatre, I am a very creative person so I love to make art in all different forms from performance art to hands-on crafting and more.

Defining quote: “Don’t be afraid of life; be friends with it.” - Aqua from Aquamarine

Elizabeth always came to the camps she worked in prepared with games and teaching activities to do with the kids. She handled children’s big emotions with empathy and compassion. She also worked with other teaching artists, and communicated children’s needs, as well as lesson plans. She is just so fun and so many of the children adored her!! Even the adults that we worked with (myself included) knew that she was so good at making you feel like the most important person in the room.

Elizabeth interacts with children in a way that you can tell that they are truly connected. When she is talking with kids it’s apparent that she is invested not only in their well-being but whatever it is they have to say. She is a great leader and good at being firm but kind when it comes to rules. She also is excellent at coming up with quick entertaining moments and games on the spot when needed. She is always ready to get on a kid’s level in order to interact and relate to them. She is also very reliable coworker. I can always trust her to do what she says she is going to get done.
