Ms. Amanda S.

Birthday: August 16th

Hometown: Atlanta, GA

Favorite Crayola color: Wisteria

Background: I am currently a student at Florida State pursuing my degree in Hospitality with a concentration in Recreation and Tourism Management. I first started babysitting in middle school for my neighbor, and continued to babysit for many different local families all throughout high school. I have also had experience caring for kids in more formal settings, including Sunday Schools, VBS, and as an intern in an elementary school. I've cared for kids ranging in age 2 to 13, and have cared for kids with varying needs, including kids with developmental delays and allergies. I've always loved working with kids, and I cannot wait to have the chance to get to know your little ones!

She’s cared for children as young as: 2 years old

Future plans: In the next five to ten years, I hope to have graduated from FSU and have a career in the recreation field. My overall goal is to work as a camp director, as I love working with kids and the outdoors, but I would be happy anywhere that lets me be outdoors, whether that be with Campus Recreation somewhere or in a National or State Park. I also hope that I'll be in a healthy, stable relationship, and maybe have kids of my own!

When she’s not babysitting: I can usually be found outdoors, whether it's studying on Landis Green, working at the Rez, or reading out by the pool. I love to read, and you can almost always find a new book in my bag. I also like to make jewelry, and I have a small jewelry business!

Defining quote: "There's nothing like deep breaths after laughing that hard. Nothing in the world like a sore stomach for the right reasons." — Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Amanda is dependable, trustworthy, and mature. My kids loved having her babysit for them because she is hands on. She would read, play games, do pretend play, or whatever the kids were into. She would always respond quickly and enthusiastically when I contacted her to babysit.

Amanda watched my special needs son for a summer and had worked for me periodically over the years doing one-off babysitting. She is very patient and engaging with children. My son looks forward to seeing her every time and had games planned for them. She is timely in her arrival and is willing to stay longer when my schedule changes. She’s the only babysitter my wife trusts to drive my kids around and that is saying something.
