Background: I am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Florida State University. I have always enjoyed working with children and helping them learn, grow, and feel supported. I have been babysitting since I was 16 years old and have gained experience caring for children of various ages through babysitting, family responsibilities, church volunteering, and after school programs.

Growing up, I often helped care for my younger cousin, who is five years younger than me. This experience taught me responsibility, patience, and the importance of creating a safe and positive environment for children. I helped with daily routines, supervised activities, prepared snacks, and provided support whenever needed.

I also volunteered in my church's childcare program for a year and a half, where I worked with children of different ages. I helped supervise playtime, assisted with crafts and activities, read stories, and ensured children were safe and engaged while their families attended church services. This experience strengthened my ability to connect with children, manage groups, and adapt to different personalities and needs.

In addition, I worked in an after-school care program where I helped elementary school students, up to third grade, complete their homework and stay on track academically. I enjoyed encouraging children to build confidence in their learning while providing a supportive and patient environment. This role helped me develop strong communication skills and taught me how to work with children who learn in different ways.

As a nursing student, I have developed a strong understanding of safety, health, communication, and child development. I am certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and have completed more than 180 volunteer hours at Baptist Miami Cancer Institute, where I assisted patients, families, and healthcare staff. These have strengthened my ability to remain calm under pressure, think critically, and provide compassionate care.

I am comfortable helping with homework, preparing simple meals and snacks, maintaining routines, bedtime preparation, arts and crafts, outdoor activities, reading, and keeping children engaged in fun and age-appropriate activities. Families describe me as dependable, caring, patient, and responsible. My goal is always to create a nurturing, safe, and positive environment where children feel comfortable and parents feel confident knowing their children are in good hands.

On her own, she’s cared for children as young as: 2 years old

Future plans: I hope to graduate with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and begin my career as a pediatric nurse. I am particularly interested in working in pediatric oncology or the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), where I can provide compassionate care and support to children and their families during challenging times.

After gaining several years of hands-on nursing experience, I plan to continue my education by pursuing a Master's degree in Nursing. Most importantly, I want to build a meaningful career dedicated to helping others while continuing to grow both personally and professionally. I look forward to making a positive impact on the lives of children and families and becoming a skilled, compassionate healthcare provider.

When she’s not babysitting: As a nursing student, I spend a lot of my time studying! Outside of school, I enjoy going on walks, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family. I am a very social person and enjoy connecting with others, trying new experiences, and staying active.

One of my favorite things to do is explore new hobbies. So far, I have experimented with painting, cooking, and reading. I also enjoy cooking and trying new recipes, as well as finding creative ways to unwind from a busy schedule.

Defining quote: “If it’s meant to be, it will be.”

I truly cannot recommend Alyssa enough for babysitting. Alyssa watched over children between the ages of 10–12 and did such an amazing job. Alyssa was kind, caring, responsible, and made the kids feel comfortable and safe the entire time. You can tell Alyssa genuinely cared about the children, and the kids absolutely loved spending time with her. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing the kids were in such good hands, and I would gladly trust Alyssa again anytime.
She was dependable, caring, patient, and handled everything very maturely for her age. She communicated well, connected naturally with the kids, and always made me feel comfortable leaving my children in her care. Overall, Alyssa did an amazing job and was a pleasure to work with.

Alyssa is great around kids. My kids were 2yo, 3yo, and 5yo. She also knows Spanish which was perfect to help immerse my kids. She was always punctual. She never had to be told what to do and when to do it; she just had that kind of instinct.
