Background: I am a student at Florida State University, double majoring in Nursing and Family and Child Sciences. I am specifically interested in becoming a pediatric nurse - to say that I have a passion for children is an understatement. This past summer, I worked as a volunteer in the Lurie's Children's Hospital of Chicago which only furthered my love for children. My academics related to Family and Child Sciences have also provided me with extensive information on what children need in order to thrive developmentally. I also have experience in caring for children with ADD/ADHD, food allergies, aggressive tendencies/behavioral issues, special needs, learning delays, chronic sickness, and age-delays. I come from a family of four, and was able to master childcare skills by caring for my younger siblings and later beginning my babysitting career for neighborhood families at the age of ten. I have consistently worked with one family for the last three years and developed a really close relationship with them. The parents count on me and the kids and I adore each other. I’m looking forward to connecting with new children and their families through Seminole Sitters.

She’s cared for children as young as: 4 months old

Future plans: I am an aspiring pediatric nurse. I want to work with children for the rest of my life. I not only have a passion for children but I am gifted in understanding their behavior. I am hoping to end up somewhere warm and near the ocean, as I am from Chicago and grew up in icy cold weather.

When she’s not babysitting: Tallahassee is one of my favorite places. I explore the city every chance I get. My favorite part about Tallahassee is the Live Oak trees and the Spanish Moss - they add such incredible beauty! I love the outdoors and warm weather. I spend a lot of time at local parks (my favorite is Alfred B. Maclay Gardens). You can catch me at the pool or beach any time that I am not studying. I also love fitness and staying active. My favorite activities include swimming, running, long walks, and spinning. Yoga is one of my favorite ways to wind down and relax.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the great sitters this week. [My daughter] told me her favorite was Ms. Marissa because she was fun to play with and gave her “options” (I take it she gave her activity choices that helped [my daughter] pick something to do). I also wanted to particularly commend her: she showed such enthusiasm when she got there that I had no doubt [my daughter] was going to have a great time. She clearly has a knack and passion for this profession!
