Background: Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my extended family and so often looked after my younger cousins… I remember changing poopy diapers at age 13 and not minding a bit. I have always enjoyed caring for children. After being laid off, I found myself working for a therapeutic foster care organization where it led me to receive my Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science. I have worked in Children’s Church as well as looking after children in therapeutic foster care. I absolutely love working with children and I feel so blessed with the direction my life has taken to give me this amazing opportunity to work with children on so many different levels. Working with Seminole Sitters is just another way for me to spend time caring for children and growing my knowledge with the many facets of what amazing minds children have. I feel very thankful for the opportunities I have had to work with newborns all the way to teenagers as well as giving the parents of the children I have taken care of a sense of peace that I will care for their children as if they were my own.
I have worked with children who have ADHD, autism, behavioral issues, food allergies, and learning delays.
Future plans: I have a passion for helping children in foster care. I just started school for a Master’s in Social Work so that I may work with the older children who are aging out of the foster care system. I believe this is an area that is in need because the children who age out of the system do not have a family to lean on in times of trouble or for the realistic obstacles in life. I remember what it was like at age 18 and how difficult it was to learn about being an adult in the ‘real world’ and want to help these fabulous kids survive through the challenges and not succumb to them.
She’s cared for children as young as: Newborn
When she's not babysitting: I love building relationships, so quality time with the people that I love is very important to me. I genuinely enjoy spending quality time with my family, my church friends, who are like family to me, and my sweet dogs. I don’t just love dogs… I love all animals so much! If I had more money, I would open my home to so many more!
